Reimagining STEM Education: Creating Inclusive, Values-Driven Learning Environments In-Person / Online

What if STEM learning environments were intentionally designed so that both faculty and students could thrive? In this session, Dr. Stacey Lawrence will share insights from her work at Brown University on how faculty development can support instructors in creating inclusive, values-driven classrooms that foster belonging and success. She will offer an overview of her approach and facilitate discussion on opportunities and challenges in participants’ own contexts.

Bio:
Dr. Stacey Lawrence is the Director of STEM Initiatives at Brown University’s Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning. She leads faculty development initiatives that help instructors create inclusive, values-driven STEM learning environments. Through consultations, learning communities, and departmental partnerships, she supports faculty in designing spaces where both instructors and students can thrive. Stacey holds a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale University, an M.A. in Biology from Fisk University, and a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Clark University.
