Abstract:
In this presentation, we’ll talk about the recently released volume Valuing OER in the Tenure, Promotion, and Reappointment Process and the major themes that emerge throughout the collected case studies. The editor of the book, Andrew McKinney, will discuss how the book came to be, why incentivizing OER work via job security and promotion matters, and some best practices for both faculty and administrators as they try to make OER legible to those who don’t work in the field.

Bio:

Andrew McKinney, PhD is the Director of Research and Publishing for the City University of New York’s Office of Library Services. At CUNY, he coordinates the CUNY OER Initiative, a system wide OER program that supports faculty and staff at all 20 of CUNY’s undergraduate serving institutions. In his 18 years at CUNY he has been a student, teacher, staff member, and administrator and remains dedicated to the promise of public education.
