Dr. Chi from the Department of Geology will talk about:
1) general roles of posters in academic communications, particularly for graduate students, with an emphasis on the fields of science and engineering;
2) the similarity and difference between posters and other ways of communications including oral presentations and journal papers;
3) how to convey the points effectively – the what-why-how-what-what approach;
4) how to draw the attention of the audience;
5) some suggestions about the layout, graphic-text balance, captions, font sizes etc
