Faculty of Education, Research and Graduate Programs In-Person
Close Reading Techniques - Dr. Kathryn Ricketts
How do we read, and more importantly, understand complex and dense texts? The first answer is to read and read again…
Sometimes it is not possible to read a singular text over an over again to achieve this understanding. This workshop will provide devices and strategies for effective close reading towards research writing as well as effective graduate seminar participation. We will actively explore techniques from the selection of primary and secondary readings to efficiently marking and cataloguing and finally to quick access to salient passages.
Reading difficult texts will never be the same!
